Lee University Online Offers Master Of Music In Music Education

  • Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Beginning this semester, prospective students can now earn a master of music (MM) in music education fully online through a new partnership between the Lee University School of Music and Lee University Online.

“This program will be perfect for teachers who want to improve their teaching skills, expand their music knowledge, and bring life change to their students,” says Dr.

Brad Moffett, director of graduate studies in music at Lee University.

The new program, which can be completed in less than two years, will welcome a fall, spring, and summer cohort. Courses will be taught by National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)-accredited School of Music faculty.

“Students can expect to work with highly qualified faculty with personal attention to the projects and research chosen,” said Dr. Moffett.  “They can also expect to apply the project work and the course work into their everyday classroom teaching. This degree is designed to have an immediate effect on the day-to-day classroom approach of professional teachers.”

According to Dr. Moffett, applicants must have an undergraduate degree in music from an accredited university and do not need to be certified to teach by their respective state or province. While this degree does not provide students with a teacher licensure, the Lee University School of Music, in conjunction with the Helen DeVos College of Education, does provide an on-campus path to teacher licensure for students who need this component.

The MM in music education is the fourth graduate program to be offered at Lee University Online. Scholarships are available.
