With the annual Tornadothon alumni engagement push just around the corner, McCallie’s Honor Fund team will have a new look as they reach out to the McCallie community to support the school and help create the McCallie experience for faculty and staff on the Ridge every day.
Amy Cloud, who most recently was McCallie’s alumni director, will be expanding her work as McCallie’s new director of annual giving and alumni engagement this fall. In her new position, Ms. Cloud will direct all phases of The Honor Fund, McCallie’s annual giving program and she will oversee efforts to engage alumni in the life of the school.
Ms. Cloud is not new to annual giving or to The Honor Fund. Before working as alumni director, she served for two years as The Honor Fund’s assistant director.
“Amy is the perfect fit for this job,” said Headmaster Lee Burns ’87. “Her past experience working on The Honor Fund paired with relationships she has built with our alumni give her a unique ability to help us maintain and grow our alumni giving campaigns.”
As Ms. Cloud enters her new role, McCallie’s development team has also been retooled to support the combined work of annual giving and alumni engagement. Joining Cloud will be a team of three — including two alumni from the Class of 2013 — hitting the road to connect with McCallie’s devoted base of alumni and friends to strengthen those important relationships.
Eric Wolf '13 will be working with alumni from the classes of 1970-1994, He will travel extensively meeting with alumni, recruiting volunteer leaders, encouraging event attendance at alumni functions throughout the country, recruiting reunion planning committees, and growing the Honor Fund giving amongst that age group. Mr. Wolf attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated from UTC with a major in Mathematics. He also spent time time abroad in Africa doing mission work with Campus Crusade for Christ. This summer he married GPS alumna Lillie Noles on the McCallie campus, and they live in Hutcheson Dorm, where Mr. Wolf is a member of the dorm faculty.
Harrison Raby '13 will be working with alumni from the classes of 1995-2018, traveling for alumni events, helping with reunion planning, and encouraging Honor Fund participation. In addition, Mr. Raby will organize the McCallie Alumni in College dinners (MAC) and the Zero Reunion for the senior class. Mr. Raby graduated from Elon University where he majored in Sport and Event Management & Business Administration. During college, Mr. Raby was also active as a Young Life leader, and he spent many years as a McCallie Sports Camp Counselor. His father, Jim, is a 1975 McCallie alumnus and his brother, Will, is a member of the class of 2009.
Lastly, Honor Hostetler will be working with 'Golden M' Alumni from the classes of 1969 and older, along with current grandparents. She will work closely with Director of Development for Stewardship and Operations Penny Grant on the 50th reunion classes, and establish a plan to solicit and engage our McCallie grandparents. Ms. Hostetler graduated from GPS in 2005 and the University of Tennessee in 2009. She comes to McCallie from the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, where she was the director of community outreach. Ms. Hostetler was recently named one of Chatter Magazine's 20 Under 40 for the Chattanooga area. She also volunteers with Rotaract, and served as its local president last year. Honor's brother, Peterson Hostetler, is a 2002 McCallie alumnus.
Ms. Cloud has been working with Ms. Hostetler, Mr. Raby and Mr. Wolf planning many new initiatives and events to help alumni and parents maintain the bonds of friendship and family that make McCallie such a special place while working to build The Honor Fund to keep McCallie as strong and vibrant as it has been for more than a century, said officials. First up for the new team will be the second-annual Tornadothon pledge drive, which will be held Sept. 20 at the Westin Hotel in downtown Chattanooga.
“I’m very excited for this new challenge,” Ms. Cloud said. “McCallie is such a special place with a so many devoted alumni. The ability to work even more closely with this group and to work to keep McCallie strong for future generations is an amazing opportunity.”
