Councilman Surprised That East Brainerd Came Up High On Violent Crimes

City Councilman Darrin Ledford was surprised on Tuesday when, during a police presentation on violent crime, his East Brainerd showed up with some of the highest totals.

The report listed 754 violent crimes during a three-year period (through this past June) in the 37421 postal code.

The violent crimes included are homicide, rape, aggravated assault and robbery.

Councilman Ledford said, "It goes to show that no one is an island. We all are in this together."

Councilman Demetrus Coonrod noted that three of the four most violent zip codes are in her District 9.
