A home under construction on Signal Mountain was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.
At 5:45 a.m., a neighbor called 911 reporting a possible house fire at 2077 Sitton Mills Place (Signal Mountain area).
Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services (WRES) responded and arrived on the scene reporting a fully-involved house fire.
Due to the size of the home, a Mutual Aid response was requested for additional fire apparatus and manpower. Signal Mountain Fire Department and Lone Oak Fire Department responded to the fire scene. WRES fire officials reported firefighters conducted a defensive attack only.
Upon arrival, the roof had collapsed and officials confirmed no one was living in the house. WRES fire officials mentioned the home sits about 1,000 square feet off the road so the house burned quite a while before anyone discovered it.
No one was at the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the fire personnel. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sherriff’s Office. This 5,000 square foot home is a total loss and damages may exceed up to one million dollars.
