Dalton Police Department Investigating Entering Auto, Credit Card Fraud Case

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a man who used credit cards stolen in Dalton to rack up more than $600 in fraudulent charges at stores in Fort Oglethorpe. The cards from a parked car after someone broke out one of its windows.

The break-in happened in August at the soccer complex on Smith Industrial Boulevard.

The victims reported that they noticed their car had been broken into around 7:30 p.m. after parking around 5 p.m. The passenger window of the car was broken out, and a purse that was left inside was stolen.

The victims later reported that credit cards that were in the purse were used at a Walgreen’s in Fort Oglethorpe where most of the transactions were declined, and then at the Walmart there where a suspect was able to purchase more than $600 worth of prepaid gift cards. The fraudulent transactions were recorded by store surveillance.

The suspect is an African-American male with a beard wearing jeans and a black or possibly navy blue “Nike Athletics” T-shirt and a black or navy ball cap with a logo on the front.
