Rodney Hymes
A Chattanooga man has been given a 188-month federal prison sentence for dealing in drugs.
Rodney Hymes, 51, appeared before Judge Curtis Collier.
Prosecutors said Hymes had prior felony drug convictions.
On Feb. 26, 2016, a controlled buy was made from Hymes through a confidential informant. The deal was to be $150 for a gun and $300 for crack cocaine. However, Hymes said he would not sell both together "because that would be a fed case."
Police on Dec. 8, 2016, conducted surveillance on Hymes at Rogers Grocery. He was found with a baggie of cocaine on his lap. Police said he tossed the bag, the rammed a Chattanooga Police Department vehicle as he tried to get away. He was apprehended.
Also in the car were 65 grams of marijuana, six grams of crack cocaine and 17.8 grams of powder cocaine.
A search of his residence turned up 37 grams of crack cocaine, 230 grams of marijuana, 62 various pills and over $5,000 cash.
