Rossville Fire Department Awarded Nearly $34,000 In Lifesaving Equipment

The Rossville Fire Department was awarded a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, allowing them to purchase nearly $34,000 in equipment.

"More than 6,000 motor vehicle crashes have been reported in Walker County over the last five years, according to data provided by the Georgia Department of Transportation. Thanks to a $33,525 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the heroes of Rossville Fire Department will be better equipped to save the lives of their fellow citizens in motor vehicle accidents moving forward," officials said.

"The tools will allow first responders to quickly and efficiently remove trapped victims after motor vehicle accidents by limiting the load shift during rescues on nearly any sized vehicle."

Proceeds from purchases made at U.S. Firehouse Subs restaurants provided the funding for this grant award. To date, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted over $594,000 in the greater Chattanooga area.

“On behalf of Rossville Fire Department, we are extremely grateful to be receiving such a vital piece of extrication equipment from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation,” said Assistant Fire Chief William Narmore. “We received our equipment a few months back, executed our team training and are ready to put it to use if a citizen is in need.”
