The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team tees off the week at the 77th Western Intercollegiate. The 14-team field hits the historic Pasatiempo Golf Course Sunday with 54 holes played over three days ending on Tuesday. The event broadcasts on the Golf Channel and Peacock.
Of the 14 squads, 12 are ranked from No. Washington to No. 52 San Jose State. The Mocs are No. 42 and looking to head into the postseason with momentum. The squad boasts two wins and four runner-up finishes in nine events to date.
The format is unique.
The starting lineup this time around is six deep with five scores counting rather than four. The squad also goes out in pairs in foursomes with an opposing school. Coach Blaine Woodruff talked about the event with the media on Thursday with video here.
This week’s lineup includes John Houk, Paul Conroy, Samuel Espinosa, Braedon Wear, Garrett Engle and Dalton Chuba. All six have at least one top 10 this season.
The week’s broadcast schedule is 7-10 p.m. (ET).
