The Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American Colonists met in Mount Juliet, Tn. for its annual conference.  At the conference, the membership elected the slate of officers for the years of 2024 through 2027, and they were sworn in as the new state officers at the end of their evening banquet.

The new state officers are Janie DeCourley Haynes, registrar; Emily Stevens Townes, first vice regent; Phyllis Talbert Carter, regent; Olivia Bates Chandler, second vice regent; Susan Mansur Bock, corresponding secretary; Janice Owens Perry, recording secretary; Suzann Turner Emery, chaplain; Janice McGill, historian; Sharon Douglas Harding, librarian; and Jeanette Maddox, treasurer.

Ms. Carter and Ms. Perry are both residents of Chattanooga and are members of the Chattanooga Chapter, the first chapter in the state of Tennessee, organized in 1950.

Members of the Daughters of the American Colonists must prove they are descended from those men and women who were actual residents of America when it was under foreign government as colonies and served in a specific list of service prior to July 4, 1776.  The object of the Society is patriotic, historical, and educational.  Members participate in numerous projects within their communities in promotion of these ideals.
