Wolftever Creek Elementary School To Celebrate International Walk To School Day May 8

  • Thursday, April 25, 2024
Wolftever Creek Elementary School and Collegedale Parks and Recreation will join schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, May 8.

Approximately 250 students from WCES will be walking and rolling to school along with parents, teachers and community leaders. The Collegedale Parks and Recreation Department and Collegedale Police Department will make sure the route to the school is safe by using staff and bike patrol police officers.

The event will begin at 8 a.m., with kids, parents and community leaders walking from the Imagination Station Playground.  Walkers will arrive at the Imagination Station at 7:45 a.m.

Officials said, "Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment.
The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community."

The event is being organized by Collegedale Parks and Recreation.
