Nancy Lou Bohr Rothkegel
Nancy Lou Bohr Rothkegel went to be with the Lord and join her beloved husband Ed on May 9, 2024, while surrounded by her loving family at CHI Memorial Hospital.
Born on Feb. 10, 1938, to John Joseph Bohr and Margaret Ada (Byer) Bohr, she was 86 years old. She graduated from Westlake High School in Westlake, Ohio, and soon after married Ed Rothkegel in 1956. Ed predeceased her on January 22, 2018, after 61 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Richard and Don Bohr.
Nancy was a licensed nurse practitioner and later became a registered nurse. In addition to raising four children, she and Ed Foster parented more than 30 babies and hosted several foreign exchange students who remain close to the family today. For 32 years, she and Ed spent summers in Port Clinton, Oh., and winters in Ormond Beach, Fl. They moved to Ooltewah, in 2017 to be closer to family.
Nancy loved cruising, playing cards, mahjong, genealogy, golfing, bowling, fishing, and bingo. She also was a regular church volunteer.
Nancy is survived by her four children: Kim Kalal (Norm), Jon Rothkegel (Kathy), Karin Stout (Dan), and Kelly Lauterbach (Joel). She also had 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren with #21 on the way, and many nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Ooltewah United Methodist Church on Monday, May 13, at 1 p.m. at 6131 Relocation Way in Ooltewah, with Pastor Micah Nicholaus officiating. Another service will be held in Westlake, Ohio in early summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy's memory to either Ooltewah United Methodist Church in Ooltewah, Tn. or Westlake United Methodist Church in Westlake, Ohio.
