The Tennessee Department of Treasury, Unclaimed Property Division will be at the Chattanooga Taco Festival, May 4-5, to help reunite East Tennesseans with missing money.

Tennesseans have located hundreds, and even thousands of dollars, in missing money at past events. For instance, Pamela Routh, who stopped by their booth at the Tennessee Soybean Festival, claimed $1,285.

There’s $6.1 million waiting to be claimed in Hamilton County and the surrounding 10-county area.

These are the amounts available to claim in each county:

• Bledsoe County: $44,234
• Bradley County: $705,669
• Hamilton County: $3,912,659
• Marion County: $155,928
• McMinn County: $571,750
• Meigs County: $40,464
• Monroe County: $215,000
• Polk County: $62,271
• Rhea County: $251,410
• Sequatchie County: $134,714

“I stopped by the Tennessee Unclaimed Property booth, and I had this letter about my mother’s estate – she’s been dead for 10 years – and over $1,200 had built up in an insurance thing from small dividends,” Ms.
Routh said. “And who would have thought? I’m really excited I stopped by. The staff was awesome. I filled out the forms, they looked me right up … and now we’re going to have some extra money in the household.” View video of Ms. Routh here.
