Silverdale’s Lady Seahawks continued their march towards a possible back-to-back state softball championship in Division II-A with a convincing 7-1 win over the Knoxville Grace Lady Rams Tuesday night in the East Region championship game at Silverdale’s athletic complex. Once again, senior hurler Ella Cunningham was the winner in the circle as she fanned 10 Knox Grace batters while scattering six hits and allowing a single run over seven innings. Cunningham issued just two walks.
Silverdale (45-3) opened the scoring in the third inning when Aver Danz cracked a solo homerun to center field. Cunningham and Bita Cox added a pair of runs to pad the Lady Seahawks’ lead in the fourth inning when they each had a pair of solo dingers.
Sophomore Braylee Raby provided the pop in the middle of the Lady Seahawks lineup, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Emry Masterson led Silverdale at the plate with two hits in four plate appearances.
Silverdale was perfect in the field with zero errors as Gabbie Hensley led the Lady Seahawks with 10 fielding chances.
Ava Million took the loss for the Lady Rams (22-11-1). The right hander gave up seven runs, six earned, on eigt hits over six innings. The pitcher led her team at the plate with a two-for-three performance, netting an RBI for her team’s only run.
