Cleveland State Softball Ends Season In Region Tournament

The Cleveland State softball season is over after dropping their second game in the double elimination region tournament.

Dyersburg State came from behind to beat the Cougars moving on to the next round.

The Eagles were down 6-4 before scoring six runs of their own in the final two innings.

Cleveland State was down 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth before Ava Layne hit a three-run homer to put the Cougars on top, but that was their last runs scored on the season.

The Eagles put together a three-run sixth and three-run seventh to take the lead and the game.

Abby Murrill went 3-3 for the Cougars scoring two runs and driving in another.
Murrill also doubled along with Carrissa Montgomery. Morgan Willingham drove in two runs on a single in the bottom of the first for the game's first two runs.

Cleveland State finished the season 33-18 overall, 20-16 in conference play, and one round away from playing for the semifinals in the region tournament.
