The Friends of Hixson presented Shirley Nguyen with the 2023-2024 Everett Fairchild Scholarship during Hixson High School’s Class Night at Abba’s House in Hixson. Greg Taylor, Friends of Hixson President, presented the award.
The purpose of the Scholarship is to honor a student who has demonstrated strong leadership qualities within the school and community as Mr. Fairchild exhibited during his long career as a school administrator and public servant. The scholarship committee felt that Ms. Nguyen demonstrated these qualities during her time at Hixson High School with her excellent academic record and over 300 volunteer service hours. The scholarship committee stated this was a very difficult decision with many deserving candidates and several who finished with GPAs of 4.0 or higher.
