R.B. Hickey, 84, died on Sunday, April 22, 2007.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was of the Baptist faith. He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II and had served overseas. He was a member of American Legion Post 214, the Walking Horse Boosters Club, Racking Horse Breeders Association, the Spotted Saddle Horse Association and the Catoosa County Saddle Club. He was currently a livestock dealer and horse trader.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Katie W. Hickey; brother, Don Hickey; and sisters, Grace White and Barbara Crawley.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Augusta Hickey, of Chattanooga; son, Richard Hickey, of Franklin, Tn.; daughters, Carolyn Roberson, of Chattanooga, and Marilyn Hickey Rehring, of Portland, Or.; brother, Pete “Dude” Gordon, of Sarasota, Fl.; two sisters, Martha Ann Moore, of Fort Walton Beach, Fl., and Betty Hyche, of Fort Walton Beach; four grandchildren, Virginia Roberson, Melissa Ray, Tristan Hickey and Ashton Hickey; one great-grandson, Maxwell Ray; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Brother Mike Gregg officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
The family will begin receiving friends after 3 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service Wednesday.
