Miss Chattanooga Nicole Mazzio is in the preliminary winner's circle at the Miss Tennessee Pageant after capturing top honors in Thursday night’s second round of competition.
The Clarksville resident and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University wore a two piece blue ensemble as she became just the fourth Miss Chattanooga in history to win a swimsuit preliminary.
While nine Miss Chattanooga winners have competed at the Miss America Pageant, Miss Mazzio is attempting to become the first Miss Chattanooga in 52 years to win the Miss Tennessee title outright since Dorothy Jane Free won the state title in 1948.
Miss Lexington Nicole Jordan, a senior at the University of Alabama, won the talent award for her rendition of Celine Dion's All By Myself.
The preliminaries will conclude tomorrow night and the top 15 will compete in Saturday's finals to determine who will succeed outgoing titleholder Stefanie Wittler of Soddy-Daisy.
The telecasts start at 9ET on www.eplustv6.com
In addition to competing at the Miss America Pageant where Miss Wittler was this year's second runner-up, the new Miss Tennessee will receive a $15,000 scholarship, serve as a goodwill ambassador for Children's Miracle Network and visit numerous schools across the state.
