A teacher who was suspended from a position at Walker Valley High School surrendered herself today on a grand jury indictment charging her with one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation involving Christie David, 32, on Sept. 27.

Findings of the investigation were presented in a session of the Bradley County Grand Jury and an indictment was issued accusing David of having an inappropriate relationship with a male 15-year-old former student.

Ms. David was processed Tuesday afternoon by correction deputies in the county jail’s booking office. She was released on a $10,000 bond pending an initial appearance in criminal court.

School system administrators placed Ms. David on suspension at the beginning of the investigation.
