East Ridge Reports Surplus For Fiscal Year With Most Departments Under Budget

With 100 percent of the 2012 budget year complete, East Ridge officials said all the following departments spent less than budgeted expenditures:

Police Department – 90.79%
Buildings and Grounds Department – 85.31%
Municipal Court – 96.89%
Fire Department – 94.37 %
Codes and Inspection Department – 88.05%
Street Maintenance Department – 62.55%
Traffic Control Department – 83.31 %
Animal Control Department – 74.90%
Library – 88.89%
Sanitation Department – almost 100% of budgeted expenditures, but ended the year with a $499.50 surplus, even after purchasing about $75,000 in recycling cans

Parks and Recreation Department (all budgets, which includes the Arena, Recreation Maintenance and the Community Center) spent almost 100% of budgeted expenditures, but ended the year with a $17,455.63 surplus. Additionally, the department brought in overall more athletic league revenue and this helped offset more of its operational cost, officials said.

City Manager Tim Gobble said, "By these departments staying under budgeted expenditures for the fiscal year this contributed to the city being able to post a substantive surplus for the fiscal year, which will be announced later."


Taylor Faces Burglary Charge After Victim Takes Picture Of Tag

An arrest has been made in a burglary case after the victim interrupted the perpetrators and snapped a picture of the tag on the car they were using. Michael Eddie Taylor, 25, of 1977 Maple Hills Way, is charged with aggravated burglary. Gillespie Charged In Holdup Outside Signal Mountain Road Walmart

Police have man an arrest in connection with a holdup outside the Signal Mountain Road Walmart. Brandon Gillespie,20, of 1000 Woodfield Lane in Hixson, is charged with aggravated robbery.  In the incident on May 12, Alex Kobes that he was robbed by four black males on the parking lot. Chattanooga FC Earns 3-0 Win Over Storm
