William T. Clayton (Bill), 81, of Cohutta, GA, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora I. and Thomas M. Clayton; and brother, James Earl Clayton.

He was a retired Master Sgt. of the United States Air Force for over 20 years of service. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Evie Lee Clayton of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Newham of Pendergrass GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Deane Clayton of Ringgold and Steve and Debbie Clayton of Cleveland; sister, Tommie Lee Stephenson of Cleveland; brother, Kenneth I. Clayton of Ringgold; grandchildren, Mollie, Kyle, and Andrew Clayton and Matthew Johnston; great-grandson, Elijah Johnston; and nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Blevins and Bro. Preston Cronan officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Bradley County.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 13, from 5-9 p.m. at the Julian Peeples Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.

Person Shot On Greenway View Drive Saturday Evening

Chattanooga Police responded at 7:17 p.m. on Saturday to the 400 block of Greenway View Drive on the report of a shooting. Police located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Rescuers Help Man After He Falls 30 Feet From Signal Bluff

Rescuers helped a man back up after he fell 30 fell on a Signal Mountain bluff on Saturday night. However, he was not seriously injured. At 11 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting the fall.
