Bruce Eugene Crane, 72, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, January 21, 2013, at a local hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jackson “Jack” Crane and Katherine Jordan Crane.

He was a 1959 graduate of Central High School and was of the Baptist faith.

Bruce retired as a mechanic with AT&T and had also worked for Forrest Cate Ford. He served in the U.S. National Guard for nine years and as an auxiliary police officer for over 20 years.  He worked each year at the Riverbend Festival.

Bruce loved drag racing at Boyd’s Speedway and won several first place trophies. He also enjoyed eating breakfast with his AT&T retired friends at Wally’s.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Crane, daughter, Sherri Lynn Crane Barber, granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Ruth Barber, brother, Paul Jackson Crane, all of Chattanooga, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Perry officiating. Interment will be in Silverdale Cemetery with Perry Walden, Keith Lane, Josh Hale, Doug Bearden, Derek Cox and Nathan Hale serving as pallbearers. Corey Crane will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
