Living Generously Worship Series At Burks United Methodist Concludes Sunday With A Celebration Meal

The "Living Generously" Worship Series at Burks United Methodist Church,. 6433 Hixson Pike, will conclude on Sunday, in both the 9 and 11 a.m.services. As an act of worship, the church will be asking attendees and members to make their financial commitments to the mission of Burks UMC in the coming year. After each service, there will be a Celebration Meal. This is a catered meal for which reservations are needed; so if you haven't made them yet in the last two Sundays of October, please call the church office immediately to inform of your attendance.

The fall gathering on Wednesday, Nov. 6, will be on the topic, "Fleshly: Are We a Porn Nation?" Come early at 6 p.m. for coffee, snacks and a time of fellowship before the discussion starts at 6:30 in the gym.

Young at Heart will be taking a trip to the Christmas Village Festival in Birmingham, Ala., Nov. 8. Attendees will leave the church at 7:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for admission plus your lunch. RSVP to the church office at 842-4219 by Nov. 5.  The Nov. 21 meeting will be at noon with a Thanksgiving theme covered dish. Please let Kristine Byme know what you plan to bring. Attendees will meet in Room 32.

The monthly meeting of Burks United Methodist Men will be Nov. 9 at 8:30 a.m. The speaker will be David Uren, author of the fictional novel, "Code Name: Hot Rags," a story of international drug smuggling, based upon Dave's actual experiences of working under cover for the FBI. He plans to share some of his most interesting life experiences and how biblical principles came into play. On Nov. 10 the New Beginnings Sunday School Class will offer a four-week study on the book, "Just Walk Across the Room" by Bill Hybels. The class is open to everyone in the church. Come learn the way to share Christ with others that you will feel comfortable with. The class will be in room 33 (choir room) and will begin at 10 each Sunday. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
