Mary Elizabeth Shelton Hybarger, 86, of Cleveland, TN, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was born on February 4, 1927 in the Spring Creek community of Calhoun, TN. She was the daughter of the late Walter Shelton and Lula Bacon Shelton. She loved Atlanta Braves baseball, redbirds, crossword puzzles and bingo. She was a faithful employee of Bowater paper mill for 35 years. She was a lifelong member of Calhoun Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Clark; brother, Henry Shelton; and half-brother, Gene Sharp.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, C. L. Hybarger; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kim Hybarger; one grandson, Casey Hybarger; sisters, Dorothy Eaves, of Florence, AL and Grace Ann Thompson, of Yellow Springs, OH; nieces, Ann Leamon, Janice Clark, Johnny Ruth Michaels, Tammy Killian, Connie Childers and Erica Bothwell; nephews, Benny Eaves and Billy Shelton; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Martha Evans, Gertie Sherlin, Jackie Sharp and Nancy Lewis.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Stuart Park Baptist church, with the funeral service at 7 p.m. Pastor Jim Caywood will officiate.
