Kenneth “Ken” Odell West, 69, of Ringgold, died on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at a local hospital.  

He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. West was retired from Averitt Express after 16 years and was a great-grandson of James West, 43rd mounted infantry of the Confederacy Army.  He enjoyed car shows, antique cars, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Hoyat and Barbara Wooten West and sister, Juanita Alexander.


Survivors are his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn West, sons, Wayne (Sherri) West, Ringgold, Kevin (Michelle) West, Ringgold, daughter, Barbie Fleming, Ringgold, brother, Doyle (Thelma) West, LaFayette, sisters, Evelyn (Vernon) Meranda, Florida, Carol (Ed) Brown, Ringgold,  Ann Wallin, Fort Payne, Alabama, grandchildren, Lauren, Jake, and Grant West, Tyler, Kristen, and Luke West, Noah and Daniel Fleming and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the funeral home chapel with the three children speaking at their father’s service.  Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
