North Georgia Youth Gets Help With Education, Career

The Georgia Northwestern Technical College Youth Success Academy (YSA) program is accepting GED applications and conducting testing, July 10-23.  The next classes start July 29.

Officials said, "If you’ve dropped out of high school and qualify for the program, you can earn your GED and receive other specialized services free of charge. The YSA program will help you further your career training and help you find employment."

Mohawk Apprentice Scholarship Winner To Attend GNTC

Brandon Mutter received the first Mohawk Apprenticeship Scholarship this week and he will attend Georgia Northwestern Technical College.  The scholarship will cover the total cost of his Associate’s Degree in Industrial Systems. Mayor Berke Pledges $6 Million For New Recreation Center At Avondale

Mayor Andy Berke announced Thursday that he plans to include $6 million in his upcoming budget for a new Recreation Center at Avondale. He said at a press conference at the current center on Dodson Avenue, "We want to make an investment in Avondale."
