Bobby Dempsey, 69, of Soddy Daisy, born and raised in Whitwell, Tennessee, died on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Billings, Montana from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Dempsey was a Whitwell High School Graduate and he retired from Dupont after 38 years of service. Bob was an active member of the Soddy-Daisy First Baptist Church and the River City Corvette Club. He enjoyed many hobbies such as jet skiing with his very special grandson, coaching ladies senior softball and he was an avid Tennessee sports fan. He also enjoyed detailing vehicles for himself and others. Bobby enjoyed life to the fullest, he and his wife, Billie, traveled a lot and made many friends over their forty six years of marriage. Bob loved people and never met a stranger. He had a love for motorcycles and taking trips with his many motorcycle friends. And if you didn’t know, Bob’s favorite color was red.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hubert and Jessie White Dempsey; sisters, Corine Dempsey and Ailene “Runt” Pickett.

Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Billie Windham Dempsey; son, Brad (Missy) Dempsey; grandson, Zack Dempsey; brothers, Jerry (Ruby) Dempsey, James Ray (Pat) Dempsey, Bill (Elsie) Dempsey; sister, Imogene Dempsey Durham; nieces and nephews, Ray (Nell) Pickett, Amanda (Gary) Turner, Carolyn (Danny) King, Eric (Shannon) Dempsey, Keith (Diane) Dempsey and Darrell Dempsey as well as many other family members and friends.

The Dempsey family would like to thank the Doctors at Billings Clinic Hospital in Montana for their special care and concern; they would also like to thank all Bob’s Motorcycle Buddies, Dan Terry, Roger Grayson, and Don Blanks, that gave their ultimate support during this very difficult situation. The family would also like to thank Gabby Williamson for his special care and effort during this time.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church with Dr. Seton Tomyn officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Terry Phillips, Billy Wayne Rogers, Ken Terry, Roger Windham, Rich Morley and Garland Yarbrough. Honorary pallbearers will be the Builder’s Class of Soddy-Daisy First Baptist Church.
