Carl Griffith
Carl Edward Griffith, “Candyman”, 77, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013 in a local hospital.
He was born Jan. 1, 1936 in Portersville, AL, to the late Willis and Ruby Griffith.
Mr. Griffith a Navy veteran and was retired from T.V.A and Combustion after many years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as janitor for 35 years.
He was an avid gardener and will long be remembered for his vegetable and rose gardens.
His sister, Lucille Griffith preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Flora Griffith; sons, Ricky (Donna) Griffith and Randy (Teresa) Griffith of Hixson; daughter, Lori (Dean) Tatum of Acworth, GA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, J. W. (Pat) Griffith of Rossville; sisters, Barbara (Doyal) Jordan of Odenville, AL; Carolyn (Gary) Basewell and Bobbie Hart of Gallant, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. in the North Chapel with Reverend Dwight Martin and Reverend Ron Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. The grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 5, from 4-8 p.m. at the North Chapel.
