Every Quilt Tells A Story Fundraiser Is Oct. 11-12

Every Quilt Tells a Story, the annual fundraiser for the Hixson Chapter #310 Order of the Eastern Star, will be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Dr.  

Vendors will be on-site for Christmas shopping and quilts will be shown and judged by the general public.   

The deadline to enter a quilt for showing is Oct. 4.   Those who would like to participate, either by showing their quilts or as a vendor, should contact Guelda Malone at 870-6832 or Jody Burch 842-9325.  

The cost to attend is $5.



Whitfield County Landfill, Convenience Centers To Be Closed In Observance Of Independence Day

Four Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday in observance of Independence Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill and Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. Teen Shot Multiple Times On 4th Avenue; No Reportable Suspect Information Available

A teen was shot multiple times on 4th Avenue on Monday night. The victim was 19-year-old JaMarcus Davis. Chattanooga Police responded at 7:20 p.m. to the area of the 2600 block of 4th Avenue on the report of shots fired. Police did not locate any victims at this location. Cleveland City Council Unanimously Approves Contract For New City Manager; Fivas To Make $140,000

The Cleveland City Council has unanimously approved a contract with Joe Fivas  as the next city manager. The council also created a new position, assistant city manager/chief financial officer.
