GNTC To Host 15th Annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament Oct. 15

The Georgia Northwestern Technical College Foundation is sponsoring the 15th Annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 15, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds from the tournament will provide funding and financial aid to GNTC students. 

Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by announcements at 12:15 p.m. Tee time begins at 12:30 p.m. with dinner and awards after the tournament is over.

Businesses or individuals also may participate by sponsoring a hole for a tax-deductible donation of $100.

Registration is $500 per team with up to four people on a team. The team fee includes boxed lunch, goody bag, golf hat, 18 holes of golf with cart, and entry for prize drawing. Registration is limited and is on a first-come first-serve basis.

Dalton Police Department Chaplain Retires

The Dalton Police Department said goodbye to an old friend on Friday with a ceremony to mark the retirement of Chaplain Donald Treick. Mr. Treick is leaving his post to move to Pensacola, to be closer to his son. Mr. Treick has volunteered as one of the department’s chaplains for more than 12 years. Dewayne Ray Burns Wanted After Firing Shots At Fort Oglethorpe Police Officers

Dewayne Ray Burns is wanted after police in North Georgia were led on a chase, and he fired shots at officers. Burns fired shots in their direction late Thursday night.
