Bronnie Lee Hollifeld, 91, of Cohutta, GA, died Tuesday evening, January 28, 2014 at the local hospital.
Bronnie Lee was born November 15, 1922 in Walker County, GA, the last surviving child of William Newton and Mindy Victoria Barrett Chasteen; and was also preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Hollifield; her sons and daughter-in-law, Mackie Hollifield, Donnie Hollifield, Allen Eugene Hollifield, R.L. and Annie Hollifield; daughters and son-in-law, Elouise Hollifield, Connie Hollifield, Mary Ellen Cromer and Alton Lumpkin; brothers, Byrd Chasteen, Rufus Chasteen, James Chasteen, Reverend Bill Chasteen and Junior Chasteen; and her sisters, Bonnie Mae Duvall, Lilly Ruth Jones and Louise Morgan.
Bronnie Lee worked many years at Shaw Industries and was retired from Quinton Memorial Health Care. She attended Lakeshore Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Phillip Hall of Cohutta, GA and Linda and John Nix of Dalton, GA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bronnie Lee Hollifield will be held Saturday, February 1, at 1 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her nephew, Reverend Ellis Chasteen and Reverend Steve Spangler officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Lindsey Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Rocky Face, Georgia, with Gary Nix, Darren Hollifield, Mike Hollifield, David Hollifield, Rodney Hollifield and Robert Cromer serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Friday, January 31 and after 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1.
