Amy Louise Piazza, 39, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, November 24, 2014, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Amy was born on July 19, 1975, was a graduate of Ooltewah High School, and earned a degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Mississippi, and a master's degree from Tennessee State University.  She was employed by Hamilton County Department of Education.

Amy never met a stranger.  She was a social butterfly, loved music festivals, concerts, and local live music and was her happiest on the dance floor.

After her initial diagnosis of breast cancer at the age of 26, she became an active breast cancer advocate especially for young women.  She walked every year with her “TEAM CODE PINK” in the Chattanooga Komen Race.  Her team raised over $80,000 over these last 12 years for Komen.  She served on the Komen Race Committee, served as a co-survivor chair.  She had been asked many times to speak at different venues on behalf of breast cancer for young women.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, W.I. (Bill) Price of Chattanooga, paternal grandparents, Julius and Mary Ann Piazza of Vicksburg, Ms.

She is survived by her mother, Charlotte Lowe, stepfather, James Lowe, father, Julius Piazza, stepmom Willie Piazza, her Granny, Louise Price, all of Chattanooga, brother Brian Piazza (Lindsay), Fairview, Tn., sister, Ann Marie McBryar (Jamie), Rising Fawn, brother, Ben Baker, Memphis, brother, James Lowe III (Jill), Norcross, Ga., sister, Jennifer Schraw (Derek), Brentwood, Tn., sister, Kellye Friar (Mike) Cleveland, and many aunts, uncles,  cousins and 11 nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly.

The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Schlabach and his staff at University Oncology for the exceptional care and love for Amy during these last seven years of her fight to win this battle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mike Creson officiating.  Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
