Janet "Sister" Miles Washington, 76, died on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 after a brief illness.
 
Affectionately known as "Sister", she was born to the union of the late Clemons and Sally Mae Miles.
 
Sister was a spiritual and loving person to all whom she knew. She was a faithful member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and a 1956 graduate of Howard High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Washington, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Reginald Washington; daughters, Rosalind (Kenneth) Lee and Angela (Earl) Craig; sister, Ernestina Lovelace; brother, Rev. Larry (Jackie) Miles, grandson, Justin Craig, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and dear Friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4100 Highland Avenue, with Pastor Glen Taylor officiating, and eulogist Reverend Larry Miles.
 
The body will lie in state after noon on Monday, Dec. 29, and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
