McCallie junior infielder/pitcher Tyler Payne committed today to play college baseball for Lee University in two years.

Payne batted .344 with 29 stolen bases as a sophomore.

"Lee is close to home, the coaches are great and the university has a strong tradition in baseball," said Payne.

"I want to be a teacher once I graduate from college and Lee has a great education program."

Payne celebrated his decision today by going 1-3 with a triple and two runs scored as McCallie defeated Darlington (Ga.) 13-8 in a Scenic City Baseball Classic game.
