Hunter Hosts Free First Sunday And Jazzanoog Kick-Off

Celebrate jazz, art and the community at the Hunter Museum with Free Sunday and the kickoff of Jazzanooga, Sunday from 12-4:30 p.m.  

The museum is partnering with Jazzanooga for the fourth year of this community festival. 

There will be tours of the permanent collection, art projects for kids, the exhibition "African American Art: Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights Era and Beyond" and performances by THECREATIVEUNDERGROUND, the Undoctored Originals, the Tim Hughes Quartet, the UTC jazz band and the Normal Park Museum Magnet jazz band - all performing throughout the afternoon.  

Free First Sundays are supported by Easy Auto and the afternoon's performances are sponsored by Jazzanooga.


Hamill Road Lane To Be Closed For Utility Work

The westbound lane of Hamill Road will be closed between Genesis Lane and Dupont Street starting on  Monday,  and will remain closed for two weeks for utility work. New York Avenue To Be Closed In August For Resurfacing Project

New York Avenue will be closed between Pennsylvania Avenue and Bonny Oaks Drive for a Citywide Services resurfacing project from  July 31 to Aug 11 . Man Jumped Into River To Escape Robbers Who Killed His Wife At Renaissance Park; Tyree Corley Arrested In Shooting Death Of Kathy Hardy

A man told police he jumped into the Tennessee River to escape from robbers who killed his wife at Renaissance Park early Sunday morning, July 16. Tyree Tichion Corley, 22, of 3810 Sherwood Lane, has been charged with felony murder and especially aggravated robbery in the fatal shooting of Kathy Hardy. Desmond Clay Shot And Killed On Wilcox Boulevard

Chattanooga Police said 39-year-old Desmond Clay was shot and killed while driving in a vehicle on Wilcox Boulevard on Wednesday night.   At 10:18 p.m., o fficers responded to a person shot call  at 3399 Wilcox Blvd.   The v ictim was located in a vehicle that crashed into a business.
