Eric Williams Charged In Pinewood Avenue Slaying

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Police have made an arrest in the slaying of Daniel Adams on Pinewood Avenue, charging a man who showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound shortly afterward.

Eric Fitzgerald Williams was charged with criminal homicide and filing a false police report.

Williams entered Parkridge Hospital suffering from a wound to his head on April 3 - the same day as the Adams slaying.

He said he was shot near Ringgold Road and refused to answer any further questions.

Police said Williams was driving a red 2014 Ford Fusion with Florida tags when he went to the hospital. Video obtained from the Pinewood address showed a similar vehicle entering and leaving about the time of the shooting.

Nancy Fortson, girlfriend of Adams, said she came home and found him dead on the bedroom floor. He had been shot multiple times.

Neighbors said they heard a number of gunshots.

Williams, 42, gave his address as Mableton, Ga. He was arrested there and was being extradited.

He is facing charges in Criminal Court before Judge Rebecca Stern of selling marijuana between 10 pounds and 70 pounds.

We Need The Chattanooga History Center

Having been on several of Dr. Daryl Black's walking tours, I can say that they weren't just informative, but a treat. The downtown, Fort Wood and Ninth Street of yesteryear were brought dramatically to life. We stood on the ground where Sherman had his headquarters (near the Ice Cream Show) and the corner where Bessie Smith sang as a young girl. And we also stood beneath the ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: He’s Exempt From Drunk

I love the old story about a popular Senator who, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, was asked late one evening, “Sir, what if we get bombed?” to which came the quick reply, “I’d be absolutely delighted … I can get one of my aides to drive us home afterwards.” You think of stuff like that when word comes from Kentucky that state legislator Brandon Smith was caught driving erratically ... Central Rolls Past Hixson In Surprise District 6-AA Romp

The Hixson Wildcats have played a lot of close basketball games this season, but Tuesday's District 6-AA clash at Central wasn't one of them. The Purple Pounders have been hit hard with season-ending injuries as three key players are out with ACL tears while a fourth suffered a broken leg a few weeks back. Despite all of that, there are still some talented players on the Central ... (click for more)
