Local Sixth Grader Has Third Place Finish In National Chess Tournament

Suhas Gummadi, a sixth grader at East Hamilton, had a high finish in the 2014 National Junior High Chess Championship this weekend in Atlanta. 

Out of 212 participants, Suhas took home third place in the U1250 section.  He was undefeated, winning the first five games and drawing two games.  Since each game lasted an average of more than three hours, Suhas played over 21 hours of chess in the three days.
