Jerry Wayne Clowdus, 70, of Gaylesville, AL, formerly of Lafayette, GA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Centre, AL.
Mr. Clowdus was born in Naomi, GA on April 15, 1944, to the late Cecil Clowdus and Maude Smith Clowdus. He was a member of the Gaylesville Baptist Church and prior to retirement was self employed in the Construction Industry. Mr. Clowdus was an avid fisherman, loved piloting airplanes and enjoyed tinkering in his shop.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a younger brother; two sisters, Annette Wyatt and Nell Wilson; and a granddaughter, Chloe Clowdus.
Mr. Clowdus is survived by his wife, Dora Clowdus; sons, Jerry Clowdus, Jr. and his wife, Vannice, Jeremy Clowdus and Charles “Chuck” Clowdus; daughter, Lisa McDowell; brothers, Lamar Clowdus and Gene Clowdus; sisters, Evelyn Smith and Ellen Maddox; three grandchildren, Maleigha Clowdus, Jeremy Clowdus, Jr. and Bentley Clowdus; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Clowdus will be held Friday, August 1, at 3 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Nixon and Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.
Mr. Clowdus will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Friday, August 1 from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
