South Pittsburg suffered a rare opening-game loss in Class A high school football action on Friday night.

The Pirates fell to Bell County (Ky.), who got their first opening win since 2010.

South Pittsburg had not lost a first game since 2008.

The visiting Bobcats trailed 7-0 after the first quarter, then rolled off 35 unanswered points to claim a 35-7 victory. 

  The Pirates travel to Hixson next week.
