Charlene Lowery Evans, 88, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Evans was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Cullman County, Al., daughter of the late Alfred Boss Lowery and Eula Mae Morton Lowery. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wheeler Evans; brothers, Cliff Lowery, Roy Lowery, Coy Lowery, T. S. Lowery, J. B. Lowery, E. C. Lowery, Truman Lowery, Hansel Lowery, and Fred Lowery; sisters, Evis Rinehart and Ruby Jo Lowery.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Raymond Ware; sisters-in-law, Thelma Lowery, Mary Lowery, and Brownie Lowery; grandchildren, Ashley Gilreath and Jason Ware; great-grandchildren, Coleman Gilreath and Jaden Ware. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Evans will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Danny Decker officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Ware, Mason Gilreath, Gary Lowery, Richard Rinehart, and Leon Rinehart.

Mrs. Evans will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 3.
