  • Sunday, September 28, 2014
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga redshirt freshman defensive back Lucas Webb grabbed some national attention for his play against Samford this weekend.  He was named the Week 5 National Defensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

Webb, a native of Northport, Ala., had two interceptions in the Mocs’ 38-24 win over Samford at Finley Stadium on Saturday.  Webb’s first pick came in the first quarter and led to a UTC field goal.  His second takeaway came in the fourth, and the ensuing touchdown sealed the win for the 14th-ranked Mocs (2-2, 1-0, SoCon).

It was the second game in a row Webb scored a takeaway.
His three picks lead the SoCon and rank No. 6 in the FCS.  He also added five tackles in the win over the Bulldogs (2-2, 1-1 SoCon).

HOMECOMING - Chattanooga now turns its attention to Homecoming against VMI.  The Mocs host the Keydets on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. (E.D.T.) at Finley Stadium.  Tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com, or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
