The Dalton State (6-8 overall, 2-5 SSAC) volleyball team took advantage of a match of streaks Friday night on their way to a 3 sets to 1 victory over Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Faulkner University (11-6, 3-2) at Bandy Gym on the DS campus. 

"We made a lot of errors but we still ended up with the win," said DS Coach Bruna Langner.

The Roadrunners were up 15-12 in the first set before Faulkner went on a 9-4 run to go ahead 21-19. Dalton State held Faulkner scoreless the rest of the set to win, 25-21. 

The Roadrunners went-up 11-10 in the second game, but the visitors went on an 11-3 run to take a 21-14 lead. DS had a streak of their own with a 9-3 run and pull to within one point at 24-23. Faulker then made the winning point to take their only set of the evening, 25-23. 

The teams were close for a while in set three, but Dalton State broke a 13-13 tie and went on a 12-2 run for the 25-15 set win. The final set was close throughout with the Roadrunners finally scoring the final two points for the 25-23 set win and the match victory.

Michala Askew led Dalton State with 37 assists and five digs. Kianna Delaney had 10 kills, three blocks and three digs. Marta Guntin has 11 kills and seven digs. Savannah Nelson had seven kills and three blocks. Anna Metzler added six kills and eight digs. Karly Newman had 12 digs.  

Dalton State will host SSAC foe Martin Methodist at 1 p.m. on Saturday. That is a time change. It was scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
