- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga head coach Jim Foster announced the addition of Lakelyn Bouldin to the 2016-17 roster. She will join Clemson transfer Shelbie Davenport as newcomers next season.
Bouldin, a Class A Miss Basketball finalist in her junior year, averaged 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and 2.7 steals per game last season. She helped the Lady Eagles to a 28-5 overall record, advancing to the Class A state sectional.
Following the end of her middle school season in eighth grade, she moved to the varsity and averaged 26 points in her first two games while helping Van Buren County to the state sectional.
The 5-foot-7 guard can play the point as well as the shooting guard position.
The Mocs will lose just one player next season when senior Alicia Payne (Memphis, Tenn.) graduates.
Chattanooga opens play this Friday in the Preseason WNIT hosting McNeese State in the first round. The game is set to tip at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the McKenzie Arena box office or online at GoMocs.com.
