Ann Bodkin

Ann Card Bodkin died peacefully of natural causes on Monday, November 16, 2015, at the age of 78.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and an alumnus of City High School, Class of ’55.  She was a member of Alpha Tau Omega at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and had been a member of Cumberland Presbyterian and Brainerd Presbyterian. She enjoyed dancing, traveling with her companions, and playing bridge and was a passionate sports fan, particularly of the Vols and the Braves.

Ann enjoyed making all kinds of crafts for people, especially pottery and painting. Although her full time job was homemaker, she was a smiling seasonal worker at the Craft Castle and Sid Varner's Garden Center of Brainerd Village, where she was a talented wreath maker and flower arranger.  Ann also greeted numerous tourists at the Visitors Information Center at the Aquarium Plaza.

Ann was the daughter of Charles E. “Honest Charley” Card, Jr. and Grace Bagwell Card. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Barton Bodkin, her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Robert Espy, Sr., her son Daniel Bodkin, two daughters-in-law Sara Jo McWhorter Bodkin and Mary Elizabeth Bodkin, and two nephews Robert Espy, Jr., and Charley Espy. Her cherished memory will be carried on by her two sons John Bodkin and Tom Bodkin, niece Amy Lombardo, and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, South Moore Road, with visitation from 12-2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage organ donation, either by making your wishes known to your family members, or by mailing charitable donations to Donate Life Tennessee, 110 KLM Drive, Suite 2, Gray, Tn. 37615.
