All vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will close on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Stations at 5206 Austin Road in Hixson and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga will resume testing on Saturday from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
“Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum,” said Stephen Foster, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems. “It’s a good idea to take vehicles mid-week when testing volume is usually lighter and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.”
Envirotest, an operating subsidiary of Opus Inspection, has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in Hamilton County, in addition to five Middle Tennessee counties, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to meet the Clean Air Act.
“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” Mr. Foster said.
Normal hours of operation and testing center locations for Hamilton County are:
- 5206 Austin Road in Hixson and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
- 1620 Riverfront Pkwy. and 7460 Bonnyshire Dr. in Chattanooga are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
