Billy Glenn Smith
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office received information that Billy Glenn Smith, 42, was distributing methamphetamine from his residence on Edwards Circle.
After making undercover purchases of methamphetamine from Smith, a search warrant was executed on his residence on Tuesday. The suspect had a high-tech surveillance system on his residence and was able to see officers approaching the residence. As they made entry, Smith was running through the residence and tossed a gun he was in possession of on a couch. Smith attempted to hide in a closet but was quickly taken into custody.
Three additional individuals were visiting the residence at the time the search warrant was executed. These three suspects were identified as Christopher Mario Patterson, 42, Alan Lansdell Haigler, 39, and Lisa Diane Lewis, 47.
Investigators determined they had all been smoking methamphetamine as officers approached the residence. These three individuals were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
While searching the residence, officers determined that methamphetamine was hidden in the wall of the residence and the only way to access it was to remove a board from the wall. Over one-half pound of methamphetamine was recovered. In addition to seizing the firearm, officers also seized a Yamaha motorcycle (crotch rocket) that investigators determined was purchased with currency from illegal drug sales.
Smith, of 3733 Edwards Circle, was arrested and charged with the sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Smith is being held at the Whitfield County Jail with no bond.
The investigation will continue and additional arrest(s) are anticipated.
