Chattanooga Christian School celebrated their seniors Friday night with two wins over Grace Academy. The girls won 39-29 and the boys 59-32.
The girls game began with two uncontested layups. CCS gave Grace a lay up so they could even the score as senior Hannah Henry ended her four year basketball career with a lay up on the other end before she was quickly subbed out of the game to a standing ovation. Henry recently had ACL surgery and has spent most of her senior season watching and encouraging from the sidelines.
Henry recently signed a soccer scholarship to Carson-Newman.
CCS jumped out to a 12-6 lead and led 25-11 at the half. Senior Joanna Smith led all scorers with 22 points. Smith has scored more than 1500 points in her career. Kate Dirkse had five points and Addie Henry had 4.
Grace's Jessica Bonner led the Golden Eagles with 13 points.
The senior-less CCS boys also had a quick start, leading 19-5 at the end of the first quarter. Grace cut the lead to 9 in the third quarter but CCS out scored Grace 16-6 in the final quarter to earn the win.
Will Patton had 15 points for CCS and Ryan Rhodes had 11.
