CPD Safe Bicycling Initiative Round Table Mar. 10
Finding Solutions for People Bicycling on Chattanooga Roadways
The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) invites the community to a bicycle riding round table on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga to discuss CPD's Safe Bicycling Initiative.
Officer Rob Simmons will introduce the Safe Bicycling Initiative and garner input.

Meeting Goals:
* Identify specific locations where there are traffic conflicts between people driving and people biking so officers can practice better enforcement.
* Identify illegal or inappropriate actions by people biking and people driving which contribute to traffic conflicts and crashes.
* Identify specific infractions by people driving and people on bicycles.
* Seek suggestions on how officers of the CPD can be effective in increasing tolerance among people who use roadways.

Bert Kuyrkendall from the City of Chattanooga Transportation Department will also present on current and future projects of importance to the bicycling community. 

Outdoor Chattanooga will have information available about free bicycling safety classes and other bicycling resources in the community.

Free, indoor bicycle parking will be available.
Car parking is available for $1 per hour in the Coolidge Park lot next to Outdoor Chattanooga. Parking is free on River Street after 4:30 p.m.

Outdoor Chattanooga Featured Event 
Beginner Raccoon Mountain Hike Mar. 7
Outdoor Chattanooga and the Nickajack Naturalist will host a free, guided hike on Raccoon Mtn. on Sat., Mar. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The 3-mile hike will circle Laurel Point and offer some spectacular winter view of the TN River Gorge. Expect gently rolling to level terrain with a few roots and rocks. Reservations are required. Map Your Peace Corps Future: Tonight, Mar. 4
The public is invited to learn about the Peace Corps with regional recruiter Maggie Flinn on Wed., Mar. 4, 6 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. Flinn will talk about how Peace Corps works and answer questions about the application process. Returned Peace Corps volunteers will be on hand to share their experiences. Ease into Yoga - Joyfully Hike, Bike, Climb and Run - Mar. 5-26 
Purna Yoga instructor Jayne Cagle will continue her Ease Into Yoga classes with a series in March that focuses on strengthening and stretching hip and back muscles that we use for hiking, bicycling, climbing and running. The series is open to anyone interested in trying the practice of yoga. Cost is $48 for four classes. Preregistration is required. Beginners are welcome. Mindset Mojo for Overthinkers Mar. 11
The Chattanooga Track Club will host life coach and triathlete Kelly Summersett for a free workshop on changing your mindset to deal with life's insanity onWed., Mar. 11, 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. Summersett works on helping people learn how to slow their minds, go with the flow and live with what she calls "authentic freedom." The workshop is open to all interested members of the public.

Lookout Wild Film Festival to Feature Guest Appearances 
by Top Athletes Mar. 20-22 
One of the top kayakers in the world, a 15-year-old climbing champion and an extreme hula hooper will join a talented group of filmmakers on the special guest list for the Lookout Wild Film Festival, coming up Mar. 20-22 at the Memorial Auditorium Community Theater. Kayaker Pat Keller and hula hooper Ryan Mertaughwill help open the festival on Friday night. Fifteen year old world champion climberKai Lightner will be at the festival with his mother, Connie, on Sat. evening for the screening of "14c," a film about Lightner's climbing exploits and growing up in a single parent home.
Deadline for Governor's Environmental Stewardship Awards Mar. 31
The deadline for submissions for the TN Governor's Environmental Stewardship Awards is Mar. 31. If you wish to nominate an individual or organization that has had a significant positive impact on the state's environment through green building, education, use of resources and several other categories, it's time to apply.
