1929 The Red Sox lose to the A's, 7-3, in their first ever Sunday home game. Due to Fenway's proximity to a church and the resulting protesters, the game is played one mile west of its home at its cross-town rival’s ballpark, Braves Field.

1961 Five days past his 40th birthday, Warren Spahn becomes the second oldest pitcher, only behind Cy Young's performance at the age of 41 years and three months, to throw a no-hitter. Henry Aaron knocks in the game's only run when the Braves beat the Giants at County Stadium, 1-0.
1985 After the Yankees get off to a 6-10 start, skipper Yogi Berra is fired and replaced by Billy Martin, who is returning to manage the club for the fourth time. The fired manager vows not to return to Yankee Stadium for as long as George Steinbrenner is the owner of the team, and it will take 14 years for the two to reconcile.
Warren Spahn, who attended the Braves' Hall of Fame game in 2002, died on Nov. 24, 2003 at 82.
