East Ridge Man Charged With Abusing 3-Year-Old Son

An East Ridge man has been arrested after bruises were found on thethigh of his three-year-old son.

Roger Brian Stevens II, 23, was charged with felony child abuse.

East Ridge Police said that on or about May 9 Stevens struck his son with an object that left two horizontal bruises. The bruises were photographed by police on May 11 when they "were plainly visible."

They were midway down the child's rear thigh.

Stevens, who was interviewed May 18, said he spanked his child three times over that weekend.

His girlfriend, Jamie (no last name given), said she observed the bruises when the child was sent back to the custody of his mother on Sunday, May 10.
