Fredrick Griffin Chandler, 85, died on Sunday, May 30, 2015.
Upon graduation from High School in Manchester, N.H., Fred enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He quickly rose up the ranks as a “black shoe” to Master Chief Electronic Technician when he was selected for the limited duty office program. He served aboard two ships which retrieved the Gemini capsules. He and his family enjoyed Rota, Spain and Honolulu, Hi.
Civilian life for him was proudly watching his two sons marry wonderful women and having successful careers.
Fred was born in Woodsville, N.H. to the late Laura and Kenneth Chandler.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ethel Chandler; two sons, Donald (Susan) and Jeff (Marian) Chandler and two sisters, Donna Baden and Denise (Arthur) Streeter.
Fred'a wishes were to be cremated and with no services. He will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fl.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
